About

wordfind.fun is a free word search maker built for the ten minutes before a lesson, not for a marketing funnel.

Why it exists

Most word search generators online are either behind a sign-up wall, covered in adverts, or paginated so that the answer key never quite fits on the sheet. The ones that are not tend to be fine for a quick grid and useless for a classroom: no control over cell size, no idea whether the sheet will fit A4, and no way to print thirty different grids so the table next to yours cannot copy.

This site is the tool we wanted: paste a word list, choose a size, print. The answer key is generated from the same layout data as the puzzle, so it is always the exact grid you printed.

How it is built

A word-placement engine written for this site runs entirely in the browser. It places each word on a straight line, favours layouts where words cross each other, and rejects any grid where the filler letters accidentally spell something a teacher would not want to hand out. The same engine, given the same seed, produces the same grid — which is how the pack PDFs and the daily puzzle stay reproducible.

The printable pages are typeset in millimetres. Print CSS is not an afterthought here: it is the primary target, and the screen preview is the same stylesheet with the media query flipped.

What it costs

Nothing. There is no paid tier and no account system, so there is nothing to upsell. If the site ever needs to cover its hosting, that will be stated on this page before it happens.

Who runs it

A small independent project. Questions, corrections and requests for a specific word list are welcome — the contact page has the address.
